LITURGIA VERBI

Lectio prima

Invocabunt nomen meum super filios Israel, et ego benedicam eis.

e ti conceda pace”.

Così porranno il mio nome sugli Israeliti e io li benedirò».

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

First reading

They are to call down my name on the sons of Israel, and I will bless them.

A reading from the book of Numbers

The Lord spoke to Moses and said, ‘Say this to Aaron and his sons: “This is how you are to bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord let his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord uncover his face to you and bring you peace.” This is how they are to call down my name on the sons of Israel, and I will bless them.’

Salmo responsoriale

Ps 66

Il salmista:

Dio abbia pietà di noi e ci benedica.

God, be gracious and bless us and let your face shed its light upon us. So will your ways be known upon earth and all nations learn your saving help.

Let the nations be glad and exult for you rule the world with justice. With fairness you rule the peoples, you guide the nations on earth.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. May God still give us his blessing till the ends of the earth revere him.

Lectio secunda

Misit Deus Filium suum, factum ex muliere.

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians 4, 4-7

When the appointed time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born a subject of the Law, to redeem the subjects of the Law and to enable us to be adopted as sons. The proof that you are sons is that God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts: the Spirit that cries, ‘Abba, Father’, and it is this that makes you a son, you are not a slave any more; and if God has made you son, then he has made you heir.

Second reading

God sent his Son, born of a woman.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Seconda lettura

Rendiamo grazie a Dio.

L’assemblea ripete:  Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

La schola:                  Hebr 1, 1-2

Multifarie olim Deus loquens patribus in prophetis,
novissime diebus istis locutus est nobis in Filio.

L’assemblea ripete:  Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel Acclamation

At various times in the past and in various different ways, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but in our own time, the last days, he has spoken to us through his Son.

V.  Dominus vobiscum.

R.  Et cum spiritu tuo.

Lectio sancti Evangelii secundum Lucam.  2, 16-21

R.  Gloria tibi, Domine.

In illo tempore:

Gospel

They found Mary and Joseph and the baby. When the eighth day came, they gave him the name Jesus.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.

Glory to you, O Lord.

The shepherds hurried away to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; it was exactly as they had been told. When the eighth day came and the child was to be circumcised, they gave him the name Jesus, the name the angel had given him before his conception.

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Vangelo

Homilia

Silenzio per la riflessione personale.

La maternità della beata Vergine Maria

Il Signore sia con voi.

E con il tuo spirito.

In alto i nostri cuori.

Et te in maternitate beatæ Mariæ semper Virginis collaudare,
benedicere et prædicare.
Quæ et Unigenitum tuum
Sancti Spiritus obumbratione concepit,
et, virginitatis gloria permanente,
lumen æternum mundo effudit,
Iesum Christum Dominum nostrum.

Per quem maiestatem tuam laudant Angeli,
adorant Dominationes, tremunt Potestates.
Cæli cælorumque Virtutes, ac beata Seraphim,
socia exsultatione concelebrant.

supplici confessione dicentes:

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, and to praise, bless, and glorify your name on the Solemnity of the Motherhood of the Blessed ever-Virgin Mary. For by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit she conceived your Only Begotten Son, and without losing the glory of virginity, brought forth into the world the eternal Light, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through him the Angels praise your majesty, Dominions adore and Powers tremble before you. Heaven and the Virtues of heaven and the blessed Seraphim worship together with exultation.

May our voices, we pray, join with theirs in humble praise, as we acclaim:

Prex Eucharistica III

Il Santo Padre:

Vere Sanctus es, Domine,
et merito te laudat omnis a te condita creatura,
quia per Filium tuum,
Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum,
Spiritus Sancti operante virtute,
vivificas et sanctificas universa,
et populum tibi congregare non desinis,
ut a solis ortu usque ad occasum
oblatio munda offeratur nomini tuo.

Eucharistic Prayer III

Il Santo Padre:

You are indeed Holy, O Lord, and all you have created rightly gives you praise, for through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and make them holy, and you never cease to gather a people to yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.

Preghiera eucaristica III

eodem Spiritu sanctificare digneris,
ut Corpus et Sanguis fiant
Filii tui Domini nostri Iesu Christi,
cuius mandato hæc mysteria celebramus.

Ipse enim in qua nocte tradebatur
accepit panem
et tibi gratias agens benedixit,
fregit, deditque discipulis suis, dicens:

ACCIPITE ET MANDUCATE EX HOC OMNES:
HOC EST ENIM CORPUS MEUM,
QUOD PRO VOBIS TRADETUR.

Il Santo Padre e i Concelebranti:

Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you: by the same Spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration, that they may become the Body and Blood of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries.

For on the night he was betrayed he himself took bread, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you.

accipiens calicem,
et tibi gratias agens benedixit,
deditque discipulis suis, dicens:

ACCIPITE ET BIBITE EX EO OMNES:
HIC EST ENIM CALIX SANGUINIS MEI
NOVI ET ÆTERNI TESTAMENTI,
QUI PRO VOBIS ET PRO MULTIS EFFUNDETUR
IN REMISSIONEM PECCATORUM.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me.

Mysterium fidei.

Il Santo Padre:

The mystery of faith.

Il Santo Padre:

Mistero della fede.

L’assemblea:

We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.

L’assemblea:

Memores igitur, Domine,
eiusdem Filii tui salutiferæ passionis
necnon mirabilis resurrectionis
et ascensionis in cælum,
sed et præstolantes alterum eius adventum,
offerimus tibi, gratias referentes,
hoc sacrificium vivum et sanctum.

Respice, quæsumus, in oblationem Ecclesiæ tuæ
et, agnoscens Hostiam,
cuius voluisti immolatione placari,

Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving Passion of your Son, his wondrous Resurrection and Ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice.

Look, we pray, upon the oblation of your Church and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we, who are nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son and filled with his Holy Spirit, may become one body, one spirit in Christ.

in primis cum beatissima Virgine, Dei Genetrice, Maria,
cum beatis Apostolis tuis et gloriosis Martyribus
et omnibus Sanctis,
quorum intercessione
perpetuo apud te confidimus adiuvari.

Un Concelebrante:

May he make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs and with all the Saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help.

Ecclesiam tuam, peregrinantem in terra,
in fide et caritate firmare digneris
cum famulo tuo Papa nostro Benedicto,
cum episcopali ordine et universo clero
et omni populo acquisitionis tuæ.

Votis huius familiæ, quam tibi astare voluisti,
adesto propitius.
Omnes filios tuos ubique dispersos
tibi, clemens Pater, miseratus coniunge.
Fratres nostros defunctos
in regnum tuum benignus admitte,
ubi fore speramus,
ut simul gloria tua perenniter satiemur,
per Christum Dominum nostrum,
per quem mundo bona cuncta largiris.

Un altro Concelebrante:

May this Sacrifice of our reconciliation, we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim Church on earth, with your servant Benedict our Pope, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own.

Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you: in your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. To our departed brothers and sisters and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy for ever the fullness of your glory through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good.

Ricongiungi a te, Padre misericordioso, tutti i tuoi figli ovunque dispersi.

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.

RITUS COMMUNIONIS

Il Santo Padre:

Præceptis salutaribus moniti,
et divina institutione formati,
audemus dicere:

THE COMMUNION RITE

Il Santo Padre:

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

L’assemblea:

L’assemblea:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

L’assemblea:

exspectantes beatam spem
et adventum Salvatoris nostri Iesu Christi.

Il Santo Padre:

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

L’assemblea:

L’assemblea:

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

L’assemblea:

Pacem relinquo vobis, pacem meam do vobis:
ne respicias peccata nostra,
sed fidem Ecclesiæ tuæ;
eamque secundum voluntatem tuam
pacificare et coadunare digneris.
Qui vivis et regnas in sæcula sæculorum.

R.  Amen.

Il Santo Padre:

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.

Who live and reign for ever and ever.

R.  Amen.

R.  Amen.

Il Santo Padre:

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

R.  E t cum spiritu tuo.

Il Santo Padre:

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

And with your spirit.

Offerte vobis pacem.

Il Diacono:

Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Agnus Dei (Cum iubilo)

Il Santo Padre:

Ecce Agnus Dei, ecce qui tollit peccata mundi.
Beati qui ad cenam Agni vocati sunt.

Il Santo Padre:

Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

L’assemblea:

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

L’assemblea:

Communion Antiphon

La schola e l’assemblea:  Zac 9, 9

Rejoice, O Daughter Sion; lift up praise, Daughter Jerusalem: Behold, your King will come, the Holy One and Savior of the world.

1  Eructavit cor meum verbum bonum,
dico ego opera mea regi.  R.

2  Lingua mea calamus scribæ velociter scribentis.  R.

3  Audi, filia, et vide et inclina aurem tuam
et obliviscere populum tuum et domum patris tui.  R.

5  Filia Tyri cum muneribus;
vultum tuum deprecabuntur divites plebis.  R.

Silenzio per la preghiera personale.

La schola:                    Ps 44, 2. 11-13

My heart overflows with noble words. To the king I must speak the song I have made.

My tongue as nimble as the pen of a scribe.

Listen, O daughter, give ear to my words: forget your own people and your father’s house.

So will the king desire your beauty: He is your lord, pay homage to him.

And the people of Tyre shall come with gifts, the richest of the people shall seek your favour.

Post communionem

Il Santo Padre:

Oremus.
Sumpsimus, Domine, læti sacramenta cælestia:
præsta, quæsumus,
ut ad vitam nobis proficiant sempiternam,
qui beatam semper Virginem Mariam
Filii tui Genetricem et Ecclesiæ Matrem
profiteri gloriamur.
Per Christum Dominum nostrum.

R.  Amen.

Prayer after Communion

Il Santo Padre:

Let us pray.
We have received this heavenly Sacrament with joy, O Lord: grant, we pray, that it may lead us to eternal life, for we rejoice to proclaim the blessed ever Virgin Mary Mother of your Son and Mother of the Church.

Through Christ our Lord.

R.  Amen.

Dopo la comunione

Il Santo Padre:

Preghiamo.

R.  Amen.

RITUS CONCLUSIONIS

Il Santo Padre:

Dominus vobiscum.

THE CONCLUDING RITES

Il Santo Padre:

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Now and for ever.

Our help is in the name of the Lord.

Who made heaven and earth.

May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

RITI DI CONCLUSIONE

Il Santo Padre:

Il Signore sia con voi.

E con il tuo spirito.

Sia benedetto il nome del Signore.

Ora e sempre.

Vi benedica Dio onnipotente, Padre e Figlio e Spirito Santo.

Il Diacono:

Il Diacono:

Go forth, the Mass is ended.

Thanks be to God.

Il Diacono:

La messa è finita: andate in pace.

Rendiamo grazie a Dio.

Antiphona mariana

ALMA REDEMPTORIS MATER

La schola e L’assemblea:

Marian Antiphon

Loving Mother of the Redeemer, gate of heaven, star of the sea, assist your people who have fallen, yet strive to rise again. To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator, yet remained a virgin after as before. You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting, have pity on us poor sinners.

Antifona mariana

ADESTE, FIDELES

1  Adeste, fideles,
læti triumphantes,
venite, venite in Bethlehem,
natum videte
Regem angelorum.
Venite adoremus,
venite adoremus Dominum.

2  En grege relicto,
humiles ad cunas,
vocati pastores adproperant,
et nos ovanti
gradu festinemus.
Venite adoremus,
venite adoremus Dominum.

3  Splendorem æternum,
Dei Patris Filium,
de Virgine natum agnoscimus,
mundi salutem,
redemptorem gentium.
Venite adoremus,
venite adoremus Dominum.

4  Æterni Parentis
splendorem æternum,
velatum sub carne videbimus:
Deum infantem,
pannis involutum:
Venite adoremus,
venite adoremus Dominum.

ADESTE, FIDELES

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, born the King of angels; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

See how the shepherds, summoned to his cradle, leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze; we too will thither bend our joyful footsteps; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal, Lo, He shuns not the Virgin’s womb; Son of the Father, begotten, not created; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning; Jesus, to Thee be all glory given; Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing. O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

ADESTE, FIDELES

Accorrete fedeli, lieti, festosi: venite, venite a Betlemme!
